Arrival in Padang, Indonesia

We arrived in the Minangkabau Airport at 2:44 in the afternoon. Our Indonesian buddies and Mr. Engki, one of the members of International Office of Universitas Negeri Padang fetched us in the airport. My buddy's name is Gema while Ryza’s buddy is Sisy.

We went to UNP then proceed to LAMUN OMBUK, a famous restaurant in Padang wherein you can taste one of the original food around the world, the rendang. We changed our money outside the restaurant. And then, we went back to UNP to fetch Miss Sutria, the Assistant of the International Affairs Office and who is the one who interviewed us. Finally we’ve met Miss Sutria. She assisted us in going to the dormitory. According to Miss Sutria, we are the ones who arrived first in the dormitory. So with that, she gave us a chance to choose our room. We chose the room behind the beautiful wall. Rizkih, one of the buddies in the previous batch suggested that room actually. We checked the room and then yeah! The room was good. It has the only room in the dorm that has comfort room. And also, Miss Sutria discussed some house rules and other things that we should not do inside the house like cooking pork in the kitchen and going home not later than 9pm. She also gave us some reminders about the Indonesia culture that we should be aware of.

And also, Miss Sutria introduced us to Ibu Dewi, the owner of the dormitory which we are staying and also a lecturer in SD Pembangunan, a preschool. They gave us a welcoming tea and it tastes so good and Indonesian foods.. The tea is quite sweeter than the tea in the Philippines. One of the food is like the kwek kwek in the Philippines but it does not have quail egg inside just the orange covering of the kwek kwek.

After a short conversation with Miss Sutria and Ibu Dewi, they let us take a rest.

We woke up at 6pm. We changed our clothes and then went to Transmart to buy some things that we will be needing in our stay in Indonesia. We also ate our dinner there in Bakso restaurant.

Indonesian words that I have learned...

Bakso means meatballs in Indonesia.
